By Way of Introduction

The origins of CVE – Connecting Videos to Education can be traced back to 1998. In that year the Ministère de l'Éducation asked Télé-Québec to begin the process of making available on the Internet a collection of high-quality educational video programs designed to aid instruction in pre-school, elementary and secondary classes. In 1999 the first version of La Collection de vidéos éducatives / Connecting Videos in Education went online.

In 2006 la Société GRICS received a mandate from the Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport to continue the development and accessibility of La Collection de vidéos éducatives / Connecting Videos in Education, by making available the opportunity to download videos, for example.

In 2011 the website underwent a major upgrade, becoming CVE – Connecting Videos in Education. Since this upgrade went online, teachers and students throughout Québec and Canada – from preschool to university level – now have access by streaming to a vast repertoire of curriculum-relevant videos in most subject areas, as well as to ancillary documents and educational tools.
